New year, new you?

Writer's picture: Dr. ChrissyDr. Chrissy

The time of year has come again, the time where we decide it is the time for a personal overhaul. While losing weight is always the most common New Year resolution, we all usually strive for something. Some monumental change that will undoubtedly transform us into the person we always dreamed we could be. That skinny person. That financially secure person. That organized person. Sadly, according to U.S. News & World Report, 80 percent of New Year’s resolutions fail by February. leaving most of us more despondent than ever. After all, not only have we not obtained this one "thing" that would fix our lives, but now, we also feel like a failure.

Rather than putting all of our eggs in the resolution basket, this year, I have chosen something else-to love myself where I am. Am I the perfect weight? Nope. Could I exercise more? Obviously. Could i save more money? Cough, cough, darn Amazon. Could I be more organized? Um, do not look in my closet... But you know what I am? I am enough. I am as kind as I can be, and try to show love and positivity to everyone I meet. I am far from perfect, and not everyone likes me, but my goal this year to find peace with the many blessings that I do have.

Please join me in this journey to self-love. We are all worthy of it, because we are all already pretty incredible people.

Much love in this new year. Happy 2021!
